District Yamunanagar claimed the overall championship in the 6th Haryana State Karate Do Championship conducted by District Kararte Do Association Yamunanagar at Saraswati Vidya Mandir School, Jagadhary, Yamunanagar.
District Panipat finished runners-up.
More than 300 participants took part in the tournament in various events of kata and kumite, according to Dr. Narender S. Mor, Secretary General, Haryana State Karate Association.
Dr. Mor further informed that the championship was conducted as per the Haryana Olympic Association guidelines and rules & regulations of All India Karate Do Federation. All events were completed injury free. Sensei Lal Darda, Deputy Technical Director, All India Karate Do Federation and Technical Director, Haryana State Karate Association was the head of referees board and sensei Ashok Darda from Noida, Sensei Jaiprakash, Balwinder Singh, Shiv Panchal, Varun Jatley, Pardeep, Jang Bahadur, Mukesh, J C Beeka were other referees and judges.
Chhatter MLA Arjun Singh was the chief guest at opening ceremony and Ghanshyam Das, Social worker and Mahamantri, Kisan Manch Haryana was chief guest at closing ceremony and prize distribution function.
The karatekas have been selected for 34th National Games 2009, Ranchi to represent Haryana State during this championship.
